A new events space, designed by Haworth Tompkins, has opened at The National Theatre. The permanent venue, known as The Deck, replaces a temporary structure on the third floor terrace. The Deck will be used for entertainment, conferences and events throughout the year. The pavilion is a naturally ventilated, highly insulated timber framed structure with framed views over the River Thames and City of London. Haworth Tompkins worked closely with specialist fabricators Stage One, who prefabricated the project off site, allowing a swift and non-invasive installation over the past six months.
