A major milestone has been reached with the submission of planning for the Tendring Colchester Borders Garden Community in Essex for our client Latimer by Clarion Housing, with Haworth Tompkins leading the collaborative design team.
Key highlights of the proposals include:
- 7,750 high-quality new homes, with 30% delivered as affordable homes comprising affordable rent, social rent and shared ownership
- 3 walkable neighbourhoods including schools, a civic centre and a new public transport system
- 6,000+ full-time jobs for the local community
Over 50% open space, 30km of mature hedgerows retained, and a 60ha country park
“We are pleased to have worked in close collaboration with Latimer and the wider consultant team in bringing forward the planning submission for Tendring Colchester Borders Garden Community. The masterplan reflects a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable neighbourhoods shaped through partnership, meaningful engagement and long-term stewardship. Our vision is for a landscape-led, walkable community with a strong civic heart, one that provides much-needed homes and infrastructure while creating lasting social and environmental value for Tendring and Colchester.” Joanna Sutherland and Chris Fellner, Directors – Haworth Tompkins
