Haworth Tompkins working with The Old Vic 20.01.21

Haworth Tompkins are working with The Old Vic, to design a new build annex to the rear of the Grade II* listed theatre. The new facility will include a; Clore Learning Centre, a script library with a café/bar, a new green room and back of house spaces. The works will also involve remodelling of the existing back of house spaces enabling a fully accessible stage door, improved dressing rooms and staff offices and the refurbishment of the existing rehearsal room to include a studio theatre space. This will all support The Old Vic’s social mission as an accessible theatre for staff, artists, audience, students and the wider local community and will advocate the principles of sustainability and regenerative design through intelligent re-use of the existing building, and the delivery and operation of an exemplar low-carbon extension. At this time, The Old Vic is able to continue the design phase of the project through restricted capital funds raised.
