Haworth Tompkins have been commissioned to prepare a masterplan for the Harewood House Trust in West Yorkshire. Harewood House is a Grade I listed house and landscape near Leeds. Designed by architects John Carr and Robert Adam, the house was built between 1759 and 1771 for Edwin Lascelles, 1st Baron Harewood, and set within parkland laid out to designs by Lancelot "Capability" Brown. The masterplan seeks to improve the arrival sequence and experience of the site; provide new public facilities including a visitor centre, contemporary art gallery, event space and cafes; and create a new bird garden.
