Mixed-use project for Birmingham Smithfield 11.02.22

Haworth Tompkins are working with Lendlease and Birmingham City Council on a commercial and residential project as part of the wider regeneration of Smithfield, an area in Birmingham city centre known for its rich trading history. Our plot, designed in collaboration with Minesh Patel Architects and within the Prior and Partners masterplan, will include around 90 homes as well as a mix of retail and leisure facilities overlooking Festival Square. We are targeting both ‘WELL Building Gold’ and ‘NABERS 5 Star’, certification for the commercial space which cover standards such as air quality and energy efficiency. Consultation on the Lendlease masterplan will commence in March 2022 and will provide an opportunity for people across Birmingham to directly engage and shape the future of the site.
