Refurbishment of Theatre Royal Drury Lane now on site 11.02.19

The refurbishment of the Grade I listed Theatre Royal Drury Lane has started on site. The work on the historic Covent Garden theatre includes restoration of the early 19th century front of house spaces designed by Benjamin Wyatt, remodelling the 1920s auditorium, stage house and back of house areas and creating a new extension in Vinegar Yard to provide additional front of house accommodation. The project aims to improve both the audience experience, the production capabilities of the theatre, and to make the front of house spaces more open and welcoming to generate activity during the day as well as in the evening. The theatre will reopen at the end of 2020 with ‘Frozen’, the west end debut of the Disney show, transferring from Broadway.
