Industrial intensification scheme in Barking 24.02.20

Haworth Tompkins has won a competition for a new industrial intensification scheme in Barking, through the London Mayor’s Architecture, Design and Urbanism Panel (ADUP2) framework. Backed by Barking and Dagenham Council’s BeFirst regeneration company, the project will transform a site on Long Reach Road into an innovative new industrial workspace serving local businesses, and acting as an exemplar project for the borough. After extensive research and typology testing, undertaken in partnership with We Made That, our approach intensifies existing industrial land use through a multi-level SME typology with stacked yards, which will be the first of its kind in the UK. The scheme is targeting BREEAM Excellent or better.
