RIBA Wren Insurance Association Scholarships 19.10.21

The RIBA Wren Insurance Association Scholarships were established in 2013 and provide scholarships to support outstanding Part II students who have the potential to make a significant contribution in the field of architecture. Recipients receive £6,000 each and the opportunity to be mentored by an architect member of the Wren. HT director Roger Watts worked with the Wren and the RIBA, together with a group of practicing architects including a former recipient of a scholarship, to select this year’s cohort. They reviewed dozens of applications from students applying for the grant, showing the remarkable breadth of work the students were involved with; from global environmental issues to local community projects. Many of the applicants, despite major financial hardships, had used their initiative and creativity to establish projects and networks to help support fellow students and maintain community engagement during the demanding COVID lockdown periods. The five recipients of the grants are Lou Elena Bouey from the University of Cambridge; Amy Crellin from the University of Sheffield; Minh Le Pham Duc from the Architectural Association; Lara Miller from the University of Bath; and Rasha Shrourou from Birmingham City University.
