Roger Watts

Roger is a director of the studio and has been centrally involved in almost all of Haworth Tompkins’ performance arts projects since joining in 1995. He is one of the UK’s leading theatre architects, known for soulful, engaging designs and expert problem-solving. Respected by clients and collaborators, he brings calm intelligence and precision to complex projects.

His passion for adaptable auditoria began with the seminal Young Vic and led to acclaimed designs including the Bridge Theatre and SohoPlace. Roger excels in briefing, consultation, and strategic project planning. Beyond theatre, he led the Royal College of Art’s Battersea campus project, integrating creative education and making spaces. Roger is currently involved with ongoing theatre and teaching spaces in London, at Harvard University, in Malmo Sweden, Bergen Norway, Christchurch New Zealand and in Perth Western Australia.
