TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT We work with and support our employees to maximise the potential value of their unique backgrounds, knowledge, skills, cultural perspectives, and experience to build a stronger, more productive, and creative company in which all members have an equal opportunity to thrive and excel.

All staff have access to in-house mentoring. We offer targeted mentoring and tutoring, study leave and salary sacrifice tuition schemes for those continuing their studies to become fully qualified.

Additional leave days are available to encourage our staff to engage in activities that contribute to the wider industry, such as external mentoring schemes and contributing to design juries and crits.

Everyone is encouraged to take unconscious bias training, and we hold in-house Equality Diversity Inclusion (EDI) Open Forums with the whole studio for further discussion and development.

WELLBEING As a company we have the responsibility of ensuring our staff members have a happy and healthy work-life balance. Through our flexible working, core hours, above statutory holiday entitlement and enhanced parental leave policies, everyone has the opportunity to cultivate a life outside work without adversely affecting their career advancement.

In addition to this we have a Group Income Protection Scheme in place, which pays 50% of the salary should employees be absent due to long-term sickness or injury as well as a Group Life Assurance policy.

Three of our staff have trained as mental health first aiders, giving them the skills to support employees who may be experiencing difficulties, and can provide knowledge and guidance on how to promote wellbeing throughout the studio.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES We seek to cultivate a strong sense of community within our studio through a programme of social activities. These include a Christmas party, a summer family party and sports day, and lots more ad hoc events held throughout the year. We plan annual study trips to European cities, for example we've visited Porto, Helsinki, Milan and Antwerp, as well as many other destinations.

We form teams each year to take part in Architectural sports leagues in both softball and football, and we provide a weekly lunch, prepared by a chef in our studio kitchen, to encourage the whole office to sit down and eat together.

PROFIT SHARE After working for Haworth Tompkins for six months, all employees are eligible to benefit from the profitability of the studio. A tax-free bonus equivalent to 15% of pre-tax profits arising in the year is allocated pro-rata to salary.

After offering work experience online for the past two years, we are hoping that in 2022 we will be able to offer placements in person at our Kentish Town studio.

  • During the Easter holidays we have four one-week placements, suitable for students from Years 10 and 11
  • Across the summer we have twenty opportunities for one-week placements suitable for students from Years 10 to 13

We will also host an Open Studio afternoon over the summer, and a series of online workshops through our partners, Speakers for Schools.
