Haworth Tompkins were invited to submit a competition proposal for the Horns Community Enterprise in Dartford. The accommodation brief divided into 4 main groupings; Creche/Childcare facilities, Primary Healthcare facilities, Hall/Meeting facilities, Community and Voluntary facilities. The design response was built around the idea of providing a central point within the building - a HUB - from which all the community activities could be accessed. The HUB was developed as being free flowing open space that connected the more closed forms containing the specific activities. The formal proposition was structured around the two main compositional elements - the courtyard and the roof.
