Haworth Tompkins were asked to take part in a competition for a new performing arts facility and hotel for Jesus College, Cambridge. The brief called for a new performance spaces for music and the performing arts, rehearsal rooms and new sports facilities. The new facilities were set in mature landscape that surrounded the College and created a new courtyard that reflected the scale and character of the existing entrance courtyard to the east. The new hotel was integrated with retained listed buildings on the public street frontage and sought to mediate between the public life of the street and the more private spaces of the college.
