Haworth Tompkins are creating a new street in South London on land to the south of Lewisham and Southwark College. Located close to the Young Vic and Southwark Station the proposed New Marlborough Street will reinstate the area's historic urban layout, connecting The Cut to Ufford Street. We are proposing two new mews streets - East and West Mews- which border two new buildings. One seven storey-tall block will be for commercial and residential purposes, while the second which ranges from one to five storeys, will be residential with a leafy communal garden at its centre. The design will create a varied street with front doors and shop fronts, while duplexes pick up on the local precedent of Georgian townhouses with secluded gardens. In total 62 new homes will be created, 35 per cent of which will be for affordable housing, while over 10 per cent will be wheelchair accessible.
